Audiences can connect with the project on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May 2020 at [http://soundtent.org/reveil/]. The 2020 edition of Reveil is taking place under truly remarkable circumstances. Worldwide soundscapes are modified, reflecting the slowdown in human activity and as a result, acoustic space has become available for sounds that we would never usually hear. Whilst travel has become virtually impossible, our daily lives have been reshaped around streamed media, bringing a new significance to the shared listening experience of Reveil. As an annual day-long relay of sounds from live open microphones globally, the Reveil broadcast picks up audio feeds one by one, tracking the sunrise west from microphone to microphone. Reveil 2104 was the first broadcast of its kind and subsequent editions have involved 1,000 artists and reached 60,000 listeners via a consortium of arts and community radio stations. In place of this year’s planned Soundcamp events, a collection of new transmission artworks commissioned for Stave Hill Ecological Park in London will join live streams on the Locus Sonus sound map to create an expanded environmental radio for (un)common times. Commissioned works include: '''Satellite Séance''' • Sophie Dryer and Sasha Engelmann '''Pitch in Creative Quarantine''' • Public Works, Michael Speers '''Live drawing and writing''' • Rachel Sale, Rachel Yalisove '''Acoustic Commons Study Group''' • Ella Finer '''Listening and Streaming Toolbox''' • Hannah Kemp-Welch '''Night Transmission''' • Kate Donovan The weekend will also feature streams and remote performances from the Creative Europe funded #acousticommons network: '''Full Of Noises''' - Cumbria, UK - inc. works by Lee Patterson, Julia Parks, RL Wilson '''Locus Sonus''' - Aix, FR '''CONA''' - Ljubljana, SLO '''HMU/MTA''' - Crete, GR '''Cyberforest''' - Tokyo, JP Register for free at eventbrite.co.uk: [https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/soundcamp-reveil-7-tickets-99971832442] Listeners can also tune in on [Wave Farm|https://wavefarm.org/] (US), [Resonance Extra|http://extra.resonance.fm/] (UK) and participating stations Please see [soundtent.org|http://soundtent.org/] for a full list of contributors '''About Acoustic Commons:''' The Acoustic Commons is an emerging network of live environmental audio streams which draw attention to the unique sounds of particular places across Europe and beyond. Over the next three years, the Acoustic Commons network will develop work between Full of Noises (Barrow, Cumbria - lead partner), Locus Sonus (Aix-Marseille), CONA (Ljubljana), Soundcamp (London), Hellenic Mediterranean University (Crete) and Cyberforest (Tokyo). Launching with Reveil 2020, the project will involve events, workshops and creative actions outside conventional cultural spaces, focusing on sounds as intangible resources which can be shared. Look out for further news and information at [acousticommons.net|http://acousticommons.net/] Acoustic Commons is supported by the European Union’s Creative Europe programme.
