StreamBox on a BeagleBoard

Alejo Duque

A parallel track to the streambox on the alix board to be found here:

StreamBox Alix v.0.1

First Boot!

notes on the process:

Dad to buy a null modem cable and a hdmi video cable (but still need a monitor able to do hdmi).

Followed this partition scheme guideline:

Got the narcissus image build for angstrom, failed to boot!

** Unable to use mmc 0:1 for fatload **
Wrong Image Format for bootm command
ERROR: can't get kernel image!

Had rename and copy:

  1. mv /media/boot/uImage /media/boot/uImage_
  2. cp /media/root/boot/uImage-2.6.29-omap1 /media/boot/uImage

Then, boot like this:

(had to set up the enviroment properly, i lost the commands but they are all around)

  1. mmcinit
  2. boot

And, to log in just use root, theres no need for a password.

To set up a network I might need to use usbnet, first i checked for the module and got a not found error, but when i typed:

  1. ifconfig usb0 up

The device got listed, I have to say im impressed by the state of development on this project, i see i got gnuradio in place and now is more a lack of interfaces to continue, I lack a proper USB2.0 hub, a USB to ethernet adaptor, a video capable of HDMI on the hardware side. On the software side, I will need to find a Pd port or go on and produce one as it was the case few years ago with the pda port for the gumstix.

I will try to get the hardware that im missing and continue exploring the chances of having a beagleboard for streaming not just sound but also video.
