The installation is a series of wires that looks somewhat like an abacus string above head height. Each wire has a sphere which acts as tuner so that the audio streams can be altered and mixed in real time, by offering an audio promenade. These audio streams are captured by open microphones put in place by people who are participating in the project from around the world . Locus Sonus proposes a live play with the the streams running continuously : just imagine a band playing with and interpreting all the streams as sole sound material.
Locus Sonus is a research group specialized in audio art (École Supérieure d’Art d’Aix-en-Provence, École Nationale Supérieure d’Art de Nice Villa Arson). Our objective is to experiment and evaluate the innovative and transdisciplinary nature of audio art forms in a lab-type context. We are are also concerned with in the communal, collective or multi-user aspects inherent to many emerging audio practices and which necessitate working as a group. Two main thematics define this research - audio in it’s relation to space and networked audio systems. The "Lab" proposes a process combining practical artistic experimentation and critical evaluation in a group context. The Locus Sonus Lab is currently focusing on a process which revolves around the use of multiple audio streams. The streams which are basically open-mike continually upload chosen soundscapes or sound environments, as playable material. The way in which we work with other people to set up and maintain the streams is part of the methodology, indeed the technology provides the basis to construct a human network.

EXPOSITION :
Colour Planes Scanner [Uk] / Création Cézanne 2006 / Installation /
www.scannerdot.com.
This project explores an idea of landscape and the resonance and meaning of your surroundings. Using the Provence countryside as its inspirational focal point, the images and sound have been distilled into an imaginary narrative, woven into a work that breaks down the visual fi eld into planes of colour and texture. This contemplative work charts a contemporary reading of Cezanne and his visionary eye.
For years, Scanner aka Robin Rimbaud has been exploring and experimenting unconventional sonic creations that grant him critical acclaim worldwide. Scanner will perform live alongside film director Régis Cotentin, whose installations and videos were presented in several art Centres and festivals (Régis Cotentin notably collaborates with electronic musicians like Scanner, DJ Olive, Christian Fennesz, David Shea, Philip Jeck or Belgian composer Jean-Paul Dessy).
Live with Regis Cotentin: Friday the 6th of October, Cabaret Aleatoire, Friche Belle de Mai, Marseilles
Opening of the exhibition: Saturday the 7th of October, 6pm/ 8pm with Locus Sonus performance.
