The other information: Title of the presentation: The Sound of Language Abstract: The Sound of Language Sound Duration: 7 minutes 2008 Mariateresa Sartori The project investigates the expressive possibilities of language from the point of view of rhythm, melody and sound. You will experience listening to a poem made semantically unrecognisable because of the altered order of consonants, although rhyme, metrical scansion, accent and intonation are maintained: the result is something absolutely incomprehensible but absurdly familiar. The same method is used to re-elaborate poetry in eleven languages by working on particularly poems from each of the chosen tongues: Leopardi in Italian, Shakespeare in English, Lasker-Schueler in German, Lermontov in Russian, Hernˆndez in Spanish and so on with French, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, African, Portuguese sonorities, in a ideally in progress work.
